Oscar Bonavena floored Billy Joiner of Cincinnati twice Thursday night and took a unanimous decision in a 10 round heavyweight bout, but Joiner kept trading punches with the Argentinian to the end and got a standing ovation from the crowd of 1,200. Bonavena, slightly overweight at 218, sent Joiner to his haunches for an eight-count in the 2nd round with a left to the head and in the 7th round connected with a left to the body that dropped Joiner on his face. Joiner, 201, got up at the count of nine and referee Mills Lane looked in his eyes and let the fight go on, but the round ended almost immediately with Joiner staggering." -Associated Press
