"Argentina's Oscar Bonavena, charging like a bull, scored a 3rd round victory Friday night when Wilhelm Von Homburg's corner threw in the towel after the German had been knocked down five times. Von Homburg stood glassy-eyed and reeling when his chief second and trainer Henry Davis signaled with the towel for referee Herbert Thomas to stop it after Homburg had been flattened three times in the decisive 3rd round. The Argentinian charged with the opening bell and knocked Homburg down twice in the 1st round. In the 2nd, Von Homburg's left kept Bonavena at a distance. It was Bonavena's left hook that accounted for four of the knockdowns. The fifth was scored with a right uppercut." -Associated Press
