  • Date: 1963-12-02
  • Location: New St James Hall, Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom
  • Referee: Jim Folland

"British heavyweight Brian London knocked out Danish-American Billy Nielsen with a fusillade of blows in the 4th of a scheduled 10-rounder at St. James' Hall here Monday night. London was booed all the way back to his dressing room. The rumpus came after referee Jim Folland told the fighters to break halfway through the 4th. A split-second later, London clobbered the bewildered Nielsen with a fierce right hand and hit him three more times before his opponent slumped to the canvas and was counted out. Fans immediately jumped to their feet, booing and shouting. London merely bowed and walked back to his corner. Most ringsiders believed the 210-pound Englishman hit Nielsen, 197, too soon after the break." -United Press International
