"Roy Harris, the fighting schoolteacher from Cut 'n Shoot, Texas, today savoured the biggest victory of his budding heavyweight career. The Texas heavyweight champion shook off a 4th round knockdown and took a narrow majority decision from Bob Baker, the world's 8th ranked heavyweight, in a 10 round bout Tuesday night. Baker blasted Harris to the canvas in the 4th round, but Harris got up at the count of nine and lasted out the round. He was so groggy that he wandered into a neutral corner at the bell. Harris came back strong and scored repeatedly with jabs and hooks mingled with sharp infighting to take his 20th victory with no losses." -United Press
