Risberg had been adviced to box only second series opponents due to his injuried optics, caused originally by pieces of grit; after the bout he wisely announced his retirement. "

    Lennart Risberg didn't retire after this fight. He was back in the ring again in January 1964. From then on he won 9 straight, but got his eyebrows cut often. He retired in October 1965.
