"Sammy Goss, Trenton, N.J., No. 2 ranking junior lightweight, caught Raul Cruz with a right to the chin and floored the Mexico City boxer for the full count in the 2nd round of their 10-round bout Monday night. Both boxers came out at the beginning of the 2nd round and slugged it out in the center of the ring. Near the end of the round, Goss caught Cruz with two rights to the chin. The second blow put Cruz on the canvas and referee Hank Cisco counted him out at 2:59 of the round." -United Press International
