  • Location: Chicago Stadium, Chicago, Illinois, USA
  • "King Levinsky fought Art Lasky through 10 bristling rounds to a draw in the Chicago Stadium last night. The battle was so even that the two judges and referee Davey Miller were split. For a couple of rounds the spectators could hardly believe they were watching the pride of Chicago's Maxwell Street. Instead of firing away with his famous right hand, the King turned loose an almost Tommy Loughran-like left jab. After the customers became accustomed to this strange sight, they roared approval as he poured it into Lasky's features. So effective was the weapon that Lasky left the ring with cuts over both eyes and a chunk of hide off his nose. Lasky, who aped many of Max Baer's mannerisms, pumped a vicious left hook into Levinsky's middle with telling effect, frequently causing the King's face to twitch. Levinsky, at 201, was in the best condition since early in his career. Lasky weighed two pounds less." -Associated Press

    • Referee Davey Miller had Lasky ahead by 1 point, whereas one judge had Levinsky ahead by 1. The second judge had it all even.

    Post-fight comment

    • "Are those the guys they want me to fight? It was a good fight to watch and I enjoyed it - but they wouldn't draw flies against me. I like the way Lasky shifts - he would shift himself right into my right hand." -Max Baer
