"Lou Nova, California heavyweight once rated as a leading contender for Joe Louis' crown, punched his way to a 4th round TKO victory over Colien Chaney of Indianapolis here last night. The bout had been scheduled for 10 rounds. Nova, at 207 pounds, outweighed Chaney by 22 pounds. After two rounds of preliminary skirmishing, Lou tagged the Hoosier with hard rights to the mid-section in the 3rd round and in the next canto opened up with a devastating body assault under which Chaney wilted. A wallop over the heart put the Indianapolis boy down for the count of nine and he was on the ropes groggy from heavy punishment when the referee stopped the bout." -Associated Press
