"Jack Chase's California State middleweight boxing title remained in his hands today but it appeared likely the Colorado fighter will be called upon to defend it again soon because of last night's draw with Lloyd Marshall, Sacramento, Calif. Chase, of Walsenburg, Colo., slugged it out with the Sacramento fighter in toe-to-toe battling, although he is rated more as a boxer. Both fighters scored nine-count knockdowns. Chase hit the canvas in the 4th from a left hook to the chin and Marshall went down in the 14th from a like punch. A 1st round knockdown was scored by Marshall when he belted Chase on the top of the head. Chase slipped while whirling out of danger but was up without a count." -Associated Press
