"Lou Brouillard's quest for his third world title - the light heavyweight championship - today led him to his first knockout defeat in more than 100 fights. Tiger Jack Fox, 175, of Spokane, Wash., had the former world middleweight and welterweight champion hanging on the ropes last night when the Worcester battler's aides jumped into the ring in the 7th round conceding the fight on a TKO. It was the 18th knockout in 19 fights for the slow-moving westerner. Fox was out front from the opening bell of their scheduled 10-rounder. An uppercut sent Brouillard, 167, down for a one-count in the 2nd. A left hook half-closed the Worcester veteran's right eye in the 3rd. From then on Fox peppered his chunky opponent with rights and lefts that carried dynamite. Just before referee Joe O'Connor halted the one-sided affair, the plodding negro battered Brouillard down for a four-count in the 7th." -Associated Press
