The first two rounds were slow. In the 3rd round, Mauriello drove Knox to the ropes with a blistering head and body attack. Mauriello would continue to pound Knox over the subsequent rounds, as Knox cowered and covered along the ropes. In the 8th round, a left hook to to the jaw from Mauriello floored Knox for a five-count. As he rose, Knox was met by a right hand to the jaw which appeared to knock him out cold. However, the bell rang, and Knox was able to survive, though he was floored for an eight-count in the 10th round by a right hand.
