Sammy Goss vs. Augie Pantellas (2nd meeting)
Sammy Goss 130 lbs lost to Augie Pantellas 130 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10
- Date: 1979-01-30
- Location: Forum, Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, USA
- Referee: Tommy Reid 46-48
- Judge: John Stewart 42-47
- Judge: Carol Polis 44-48
"Augie Pantellas looked good after he won a unanimous decision over Sammy Goss in a feature junior lightweight 10-round attraction at the 69th St. Forum here Tuesday night. There was a red welt under Pantellas' left eye and a tiny bruise under his right eyelash. Other than that, the Broomall fighter appeared in excellent shape. Pantellas' victory, although unanimous, was a narrow one. And, if it weren't for Goss going down in the 5th, the fight would have probably gone the other way. Goss bounced back up immediately after Pantellas hit him with a straight right to the head and turned aggressor before the round ended. Goss' defensive back-pedalling in the final round may have had a negative influence on the judges." -Delaware County Daily Times
- Unofficial Daily Times card - 48-46 Goss
Post-fight comments
- "I was moving back when he dropped me. It wasn't that hard a shot. I was caught off balance but I wasn't hurt. I thought I pulled it out in the last couple of rounds." -Sammy Goss
- "Sammy was in top shape. He took some good shots from me. He never hurt me enough to say I was dazed at any time. He's a good boxer but he's not a puncher. I'm glad it went 10 rounds because I'm better prepared for my next fight." -Augie Pantellas
