"Gorilla Jones, Akron, Ohio, was awarded the judges' decision over Georgie Nichols, the Buffalo southpaw, in the 10-round windup event in the quarter-finals of the NBA middleweight elimination tournament here tonight. Odone Piazzo, middleweight champion of Italy, was awarded the judges' decision over Raul Rojas, the Cuban titleholder, in a 10-round semi-windup. By their wins, Jones and Piazzo advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament to be held here November 19th. The winner of the tournament will be adjudged the successor to Mickey Walker, who vacated the title." -Associated Press
