"Lou Nova, one-time heavyweight contender, made an unimpressive start on the comeback trail last night when he whaled the daylights out of Johnny Erjevac, Duluth, and scored a TKO in the 5th round of a scheduled 10 round match at Oakland Auditorium. Nova, inactive since he was stopped by Tony Galento, was in fine physical condition but his timing was bad and his footwork sloppy. Experts agreed he needed several more bouts against better boxers than Erjevac before he would be back in a contending position." -United Press
