LOCAL MATTERS.
Wrestling and Sparring.--There was a large crowd present last night at Kernan's Winter Garden to see the wrestling and sparring. The first event was the unfinished wrestling match, catch-as-catch-can, between T. Bibby and Sergeant Walsh. Bibby won the fall in 5 1/2 minutes, and, having won a fall Monday evening, was awarded the match. Ross and Capt. Daly also finished their match, which was best two in three Graeco-Roman. Ross won one fall Monday night and last night Capt. Daly won the first fall in 14 minutes, Ross the second and deciding fall in 9 minutes, throwing Capt. Daly on his back in the dressing-room, just back of the stage. The event of the evening was the three-round set-to between Jim O'Day, the Baltimore heavy-weight, and Mervin Thompson, the Cleveland thunderbolt. The sparring was clever, though devoid of hard hitting. At the finish of the third round O'Day had forced his man off the stage. Prof. John McGraw acted as referee, and Mr. Sam Heilbron, master of ceremonies.
