"Brian Curvis scored a 4th round TKO over Jose Stable last night when the referee stopped their 10 round bout because of a bad cut over the Cuban's left eye. Referee Bill Williams halted the fight midway through the round with Stable's eye dripping blood as a result of a first round collision of heads. His British opponent suffered a cut on the forehead. Stable, who lives in New York, had taken a bad beating in the first three rounds as Curvis attacked the body with southpaw punches. The Welshman also connected to the head and in the 2nd and 3rd rounds forced Stable to hold on. Stable was making a strong showing in the 4th, continually beating Curvis to the punch, when the referee stepped in to call a halt." -United Press International
