"Ken Buchanan of Scotland bled for 13 rounds but successfully defended his European lightweight championship Monday when his fight against Leonard Tavarez of France was halted in the 14th round. Tavarez' handlers threw in the towel one minute into the round while Tavarez was wobbling under a barrage from the former world champion.
