Nelse Osborn, at the end of the bar at left, operated one of the most popular watering spots on the Flats behind the Star Island House. Many local boxers used to train in the area, including Tommy Prendergast (in front of Osborn with a beer in his hand), at the time lightweight champion of Michigan.
