"Someday Fritzie Zivic is going to get lucky in a NY ring over one of those body punches - and then you're going to see some fun. Fritzie happens to be a guy who doesn't get the benefit of the doubt about those things very often. So, for the second time in a month against Jack, the referee scored against Fritzie over one of those body punches and Beau Jack squeaked through by the narrowest of margins to win a rough-and-tumble 12 round decision over Pittsburgh's Zivic. The body punch - which caused referee George Walsh to take the 9th away from Zivic - was so questionable that promoter Mike Jacobs contemplated a 3rd match between the two. The crowd was more than slightly annoyed about the decision, especially after Fritzie's fast finish, during which he all but jerked Jack's head off with his sharp-shooting in the 11th and 12th sessions." -Associated Press
- Unofficial AP scorecard - 6-5-1 Jack

- Mike Jacobs considered a 3rd match between the two, but fight dates in MSG were so full that he only could consider replacing Henry Armstrong - who was scheduled to fight Jack on April 2nd - with Zivic if Armstrong failed to win his next two matches in the Garden, which were against Tippy Larkin on March 8th and against Al Tribuani on March 22nd. However, Armstrong won both matches and met Jack on the April 2nd date.
