Cockney Cohen was apparently an adviser to Sun Yet-Sen ([1]), the Chinese revolutionary and eventual first president and founding father of the Republic of China ("Nationalist China"), in China after his boxing career was over. He was also a well regarded trainer after he retired from boxing before heading off to China. In a record printed in Boxing and Mirror of Life on July 17, 1901 that had no dates or venues: Cohen defeated H. Chambers rds not given, L. Harris, A. Pinder and M. Silver six rds. Stopped A. Delaney one rd., won a Yorkshire 7stone 6llb. by stopping Fawcwtt in the 3rd rd. The date and location for that result has been entered into the boxrec. database.
in the final, stopped G. Stone in 3 rds. and stopped B. Dickenson in three rds. Lost to R. Solomon in 4 rds and lost to N. Solomon in six rds., and finally lost to Patsy Haley in 12 rds. which is documented in this linked record. Like many man of his generation Cohen served in the British Army in World War I.
