9th of July 1904 Kling won the New South Wales amateur finals of the heavyweight class at the National Sporting Club, Sydney and was generally recognized as amateur heavyweight champion of the continent.

Kling was scheduled to fight Billy McColl on October 3rd, 1906 but the club offered to match him with up-and-coming heavyweight Bill Squires in November instead.

According to his funeral notice in the December 4, 1939 edition of the Sydney Morning Herald on Ancestry.com, Peter Kling was scheduled to be buried in the Botany Cemetery on December 4, 1939.
