Kid Black was another of the literally hundreds of figters who came out of New York's Lower east side in the first half of the 20th century. Per the Chuck Hasson archives this Kid Black was of Jewish heritage. Black defeated Hall of Fame fighters Johnny Dundee and Benny Leonard by newspaper decision along with notable fighters from his generation like Frankie Callahan, Phil Bloom, Paddy Sullivan, Young Wagner, George Kitson and many others. Also had a newspaper draw with Hall of Fame trainer Charlie Goldman.
