Former American Expeditionary Forces (A.E.F.) Welterweight Champion during World War I. Abel had a distinguished career winning the Pacific Coast Welterweight Title in May of 1919, though he lost it to Travis Davis in September of that same year. Held the Southern Welterweight Title from 1919 to 1922. He retired shortly after losing the title to the great Young Stribling by decision.
