Janks Morton was best known for working with Sugar Ray Leonard. Morton started working with Leonard when he was an amateur and continued to work with him as an assistant trainer after he turned professional in 1977. When Leonard and trainer Angelo Dundee parted ways, Morton served as Leonard's head trainer for his fight against Donny Lalonde in 1988. Morton also trained Greg Page for his title-winning effort against WBA Heavyweight Champion Gerrie Coetzee in 1984.
