According to the March 5, 1932 Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gill were the parents of Rusty Gill, a University of California football star, who was about to become a professional boxer.
Gill was one of the best football halfbacks for the University of California. He decided to get into boxing to raise funds to send him to law school, per the San Jose News. [1]
It is believed he had a very short (two or three bouts) boxing career.
