Tommy entered the amateur ranks January 1947 as a featherweight and compiled a record of 8-1. He turned pro July 1947 and competed for 2 years retiring in 1949 at age 20 after 19 fights. Ring experience opened doors for a career as an International Boxing Judge. He has judged over 1500 pro bouts--judged 78 championship fights of which 40 were world title bouts. They include Ray Leonard v. Tommy Hearns; Roberto Duran v. Iran Barkley; Evander Holyfield v. George Foreman; James Toney v. Mike McCallum; Jeff Fenech v. Azumah Nelson; Terry Norris v. Simon Brown; and many other notable championship fights. He is presently Vice-Chairman of the Ring Officials Committee of the WBC. He has conducted training seminars for WBC judges from Africa and Europe--conducted seminars for the New Jersey and Connecticut State Athletic Commissions.He is the author of You Be the Boxing Judge!: Judging Professional Boxing for the TV Boxing Fan which appears in hard copy, DVD and VHS.
