• When Goodwin retired as a professional boxer he left the ring with a final record of 40-2-1. During his career Goodwin won the Michigan Light Heavyweight State title.
• Goodwin died of a stroke in his Melvindale, Michigan home. The Detroit Free Press initially reported that Goodwin was found bludgeoned to death in his suburban Detroit home, but later discovered that he likely suffered a stroke causing him to fall down a set of stairs.[1]
