Johnny Romsaas was born in Oslo on February 8th 1940.

As amateur middleweight won the National title 1960-1961-1962-1963. Scandinavian title 1962.

In his amateur career he had a points loss to well known German Harry Kneipp.

His father Olaf was a famous amateur in Norway during the 1920's and 30's, while his uncle Oscar Romsaas had a win over the German Max Voit, middleweight champion in the "Worker's Olympics" in Vienna 1931. (Source: John W Wiksen, Program for International Pro Card, Trondheim June 21st 1968.)

During his pro career 1964- 1971, Johnny Romsaas invested his money in trucks. In the last 20 years of his life he worked as a prison guard in Oslo.
