Frank Farley was referred to in a 1898 issue of The Baltimore Morning Herald as, "the cleverest boxer that appears on the boards in Baltimore. His defensive work is the finest that ever came down the pike, and in every particular he shows himself a master of the game." On March 18, 1898, Farley was appointed boxing coach at Johns Hopkins University. [1]
