Bobby Alexander won two New York Golden Gloves Championships. Alexander won both the 1972 126lb Sub-Novice Championship and the 1973 126lb Open Championship. Alexander defeated Pedro Odiot in the 1972 finals and defeated Dennis Freyre to win the 1973 title. Alexander trained at the Police Athletic Leagues Howard Houses in Brooklyn, New York. His trainer was Al Fischetti.
