According to "The Glove Parade" column by Jim McDonald in the May 6, 1931 edition of the Referee (Sydney, NSW) on the Trove website, Edward "Uncle Ted" Green died on Thursday night (April 30, 1931). He was from a famous fighting family, including three nephews, Jack, Ted and Theo. "Uncle Ted" lacked "the speed and cleverness of his nephews, but "outshone them all in pure qualities of unexhaustible [sic] stamina, prodigious strength, smashing power of punch, and dour, indomitable fighting spirit." McDonald wrote the following, "Barely 5ft tall, and weighing but 8st (112 pounds), old Ted was, in my opinion, the great fighter of his weight and inches Australia has produced." Also according to McDonald, "Had Green gone to America when 45-round bouts were the order, when championship titles were at stake, I think that Green would have brought the world's bantam title back to Australia."

According to an obituary with the headline, "DEATH OF A FORMER CHAMPION," in the May 2, 1931 edition of the Sydney Morning Herald on the Trove website, "Teddy Green, a former bantamweight champion of Australia, died at his residence in Taylor-street, Darlinghurst, yesterday after an illness of several months duration."

According to a funeral notice in the May 2, 1931 edition of the Sun (Sydney, NSW), "The relatives and friends of Mrs. Dolly Green are kindly invited to attend the funeral of her dearly beloved husband, Edward Forrest Green, which will leave his residence, 19 Taylor-street, Darlinghurst, this Saturday at 2:30 p.m., for the Botany Cemetery."
