A former Wigan boxer has been found hanged at his home - friends and colleagues of Ryan Cummings today told of their shock after the discovery of the 34-year-old's body on Monday morning.

A journeyman pro, Cummings had forged a relatively successful career as a super middleweight although friends say that disagreements with management held him back from the titles he deserved.

A promising boxer from childhood, he had gone to London to seek his fortune after turning professional.

He retired a couple of years ago but kept training, only recently returning to his old haunt of Catt's Gym at Orrell.
