After his boxing career Johnny Devlin worked as a bartender at the Sinton Hotel in Cincinnati. It was reported in August 1956 by the Portsmouth Times that Devlin's two sons, Johnny and Donald, had been succesful at the recent Silver Gloves championships staged in the Cincinnati Garden.
