Tommy Garrison was a highly touted prospect in the early 1960s. Served 3-years in the United Sates Marine Corp.
Tommy Garrison won two New York Golden Gloves Championships. Garrison won the 1961 135lb Sub-Novice Championship and the 1962 135lb Open Championship. Garrison defeated Thomas Brennan of the East 54th Street Parks Department in the 1961 135lb Sub-Novice finals and defeated Mike Cortez of the Boys Club of New York in the finals to win the 135lb Open title. Garrison trained at the Salem Crescent Athletic Club in New York. Ended his amateur career with a 20-1 record.
