Prior to facing Curtis Parker in November 1982, Alexis Shakespeare claimed to have compiled a record of 18-3-1 while fighting in Jamaica. His supposed record was listed in Ring Record Book 1983 but was likely a fabrication as no mention of these fights - or even of his supposed opponents - could be found in the Daily Gleaner of Kingston, Jamaica which covered boxing on the island very thoroughly.
