Patrick Haley (Pat Haley, Patsy Haley) was born in County Mayo, Ireland in 1899. Haley's family moved to the United States of America when he was young. The family changed the spelling of their name from "Healy" to "Haley" when they emigrated to the United States. They settled in Philadelphia, PA. Haley was referred to as a club fighter. At the age of 22 he had 22 bouts, winning 16 by knockout and losing only three. Most of Haley's career was spent at Cambria in Philadelphia and Atlantic City, NJ. Haley had a long career considering that he fought almost on a weekly basis to make ends meet.

Excerpt from an newspaper article (citation needed): PAT HALEY WAS THE GREATEST FIGHTER IN THE WORLD. PAT KEPT THE CAMBRIA OUT OF THE RED FOR 10 YEARS. PAT TRAINED ON BEER. BUT PAT COULD HIT AND PAT HAD GUTS. AND PAT NEEDED MONEY TO ENJOY LIFE SO HE TRADED BRUISES FOR DOLLARS, AND NEVER ARGUED OVER THE BARGAIN IF HE GOT A FEW TOO MANY OR TOO FEW OF EITHER.

After Haley retired from boxing he spent his remaining years as a bartender. Haley was married at an early age but his first marriage did not work out. He then met a famous vaudevillian dancer named Irma Mann, who became his second (common law) wife. Irma and Pat Haley had three children: Patricia, Alice (Micky), and James Haley. (Another member of Pat Haley's family was Joe Haley, Pat's brother, his best friend and manager.) Haley died at the age of 45 with Irma, Patsy, Micky & Jimmy by his side. His death at such a young age was related to his boxing career
