Sailor White was a tough, aggressive, swarming slugger with little regard for defense and a popular attraction on local New York cards.

  • March 1911: reported as being from the battleship USS Idaho
  • Engaged in a "White Hope" elimination tournament in May 1911: [1]
  • In June of 1915, White drove his motorcar across country to Oregon where he stopped in Medford with the idea of opening a boxing school. It was reported in August of that year that he was scheduled to box heavyweight Frank Kendall at Vancouver Barracks in September. By December he was back in Brooklyn, NY.
  • A pre-fight article in the Lewiston Evening Journal of March 19, 1912, describes him as (20 years old) "standing 6 ft 1 1/2in in his stocking feet, weighing 202 pounds stripped...."
  • He apparently killed himself using carbon monoxide fumes in his garage.
