Andy Callahan, as of his death, was the only man to ever hold the New England Lightweight, Welterweight and Middleweight Titles simultaneously.

He was killed in action during the battle of Monte Cassino, Italy, during World War II on November 19, 1943. He had enlisted in the U.S. Army April 13, 1942, and served in Company D, 36th Division, 141st Infantry. He received the Purple Heart and the Presidential Unit Citation.
