Al Quaill was a rugged Irishman from Pittsburgh's Brookline neighborhood. He began his pro career in 1934, and often sparred with Teddy Yarosz and later Billy Conn. He quit boxing in 1939, at age 25, due to eye troubles. He then opned a gym on the Southside, where he trained a successful team of amateurs. He later became a local police officer.
Quaill died in 1967 at age 53 due to a cardiac condition.
