Born in London, England, in 1901. Wilshur was of English-Hebrew heritage. Wilshur in his prime was a very fast and quick handed fighter-but he had no hitting power-in his professional career he only recorded three stoppages inside the distance, and all three were TKO’s. He might have contended for a world title if he would’ve had heavier hands. Won the Canadian National Featherweight Title in September 1923 defeating Leo “Kid” Roy for his greatest win in his boxing career. Defended the title successfully against UK Bantamweight and Featherweight Champion Joe Fox in October 1923-and losing the Featherweight Title a month later to Benny Gould.
