Boston Globe January 23, 1930 described Ostrow as the only Jewish amateur fighter on the horizon after Eddie Curley and Hy Diamond had become professional fighters. In a January 6. 1932 article in the Berkshire County Eagle by boxing referee Johnny M Flynn analyzing the state of Massachusetts boxing he wrote that Ostrow was the New England Flyweight Champion.
