Born and raised in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, undefeated welterweight Javier “El Chino” Flores is a power-punching southpaw who compiled an impressive amateur record of 68-4 (32 KO’s).
Flores turned professional at the age of 23 in March 2009, defeating Ricardo Virella via a fourth-round technical knockout at the Coliseo Luis Aymat in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico. Three more knockout victories in his native Puerto Rico would follow and in February 2011, Flores made his debut in the mainland United States with a second-round knockout victory over Marcus Hall at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Since then he has scored knockouts in four of his last five wins, including in his most recent bout, a third-round technical knockout victory over William Lorenzo in June 2014 at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
Flores has modeled his fan-friendly style after his childhood idols Diego Corrales and fellow Puerto Rican Felix “Tito” Trinidad. He has two children (a son and a daughter) with whom he likes to spend his time outside the ring. Flores also enjoys water sports, playing basketball and is a die-hard New York Yankees fan. In February 2015, Roc Nation Sports announced that it had signed the twenty-eight-year-old Flores to an exclusive promotional agreement.
