Elmer (Buzzy) Brown was one of the best boxers to come out of Oregon during the mid-1930s. He was the Oregon State and Pacific Northwest Featherweight champion at the time he quit fighting in January 1937.

Brown was described in one Portland Oregonian fight report as exhibiting the Mike Gibbons's style of fighting, which isn't surprising since he was originally from Gibbons's hometown of St. Paul. Brown served in World War II, and worked in Alaska after his boxing ring career for Libby Packing Company. Brown died of a heart attack in Portland in 1955.
