Augie Curtis was the younger brother of Carlo Curtis, the famous Los Angeles manager and matchmaker.

He was the former Bantamweight Champion of Washington State and of the Hawaiian Islands Territory. (In 1934 his managerial rights were transferred from Gig Rooney to John Pop Nealis.)

After retiring from fighting he became a promoter in Hawaii, where he put on some outdoor boxing blockbusters with island associates.
