Unlike his four brothers, Joe Zivic did not box professionally. He only boxed as an amateur. Joe Zivic was the largest of the Zivic brothers, and was noted as a good football and baseball player in the August 25, 1966 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Zivic played semi-professionally in those two sports. He worked as a boxing referee, and also officiated in football, baseball, and football.
