A January 1910 newspaper reported that, while serving in the United States Navy, Sailor Ed Petroskey was fighting amateur bouts at the Dreamland Rink in San Francisco. A report in June 1913 said his term in the United States Navy was expiring that month, and that he was to be managed by Harry Foley. (Louis Parente managed him circa 1913-1914.)
By 1913 he owned a ranch near Sacramento. [1] By June 1916, Petroskey had re-enlisted in the United States Navy. He was in San Diego at the time.
