Norwegian-born bantamweight boxer Johnny Solzberg consistently fought under the name of "Johnny Solzberg" while in the United States. He was never called "Johnny Solberg," even though this was his actual name. It is believed that Solzberg had some 120 bouts in America.

He came to the USA as ten-year-old with his parents Ovidia and Hans (Taylor), having left Oslo July 18, 1902, and settling down in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn.
