John Johnny "Mag" Mangiaracina, 83, of Las Vegas, passed away May 2, 2009. He attended and graduated Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirsville, Mo., and received degrees in business administration and teaching. John owned his own grocery business in Kansas City, Mo. for 23 years and moved to Las Vegas in 1973. John was a member of the Golden Glove boxing association and became secretary of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. He later worked in the field of boxing with Don King, Bob Arum. After he retired, he worked for his son-in-law as a property manager. John was a lifetime member of Shriners and Elks.
