Irving Pierre Louis won two New York Golden Gloves Championships. Pierre Louis won the 1987 112lb Novice Championship and the 1989 125lb Open Championship. In 1987 Pierre Louis defeated future World Champion Junior Jones of the Police Athletic Club in the finals to win the Championship and in 1989 Pierre Louis defeated Antonio Gonzalez of the New York Boxing Club in the finals to win the Championship. Pierre Louis trained at Gleason's Gym in New York City.
