Alis was a good amateur who turned pro as a bantamweight, became the Spanish welterweight champion, challenged for the European belt and was highly regarded in his country during the early years of his career. He later became a journeyman globe trotter and faced some very tough fighters such as Kid Tunero, Ignacio Ara and Kid Charol.
